This notice explains when LocalLoop asks for location access and how the current build uses it.
What we collect
Precise GPS (latitude, longitude, and a coarse accuracy) from Core Location.
When
- When In Use: ranking nearby fallback offers, drawing navigation, and attaching a city to your sector map while LocalLoop is visible.
- Always / background: only after you grant Always and only during an active trip (accepted → arrived → picked up). The iOS status bar shows a location indicator while background updates run. Ending the trip stops background updates.
Why background access is requested
During an active trip, background access lets the driver app keep its route position current while the phone is locked. Position updates may be sent to LocalLoop for dispatch, trip operation, safety, and support. The app does not provide passengers with a continuous background-location stream in this version. We do not use background location for advertising, and we do not substitute an invented city pin if you refuse.
What we do not do
We do not use precise location for advertising, sell it, or invent a location when permission is denied. The share-trip text includes only the point-in-time location you deliberately share; it is not a passenger tracking link.
How to stop
iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → LocalLoop → While Using or Never. You can complete an in-progress trip with When In Use if you keep the app open; background follow will stop.
Granting Always is optional but required for background follow. Refusing it does not block the rest of the app. Going online without a fix uses hex-ring distance from your painted sectors, not an invented city center.
